The
weekly classes in painting, drawing and sculpture, as well as one-time
workshops, are taught by the principal artist, Ilya
Lerner, a full-time
working painter and sculptor with extensive exhibition activities. His process
of art making is universal and can be used for work with any media. The
recommended materials are oils for painting and self-hardening or oven-baked
clays for sculpture. Instruction includes discussions of the legacy of masters,
critiques and demonstrations by visiting artists, participation
in shows and other forms
of artistic discourse.
Classes
are held at the Lerner’s own professional studio and/or premises of The
Art School with which the Academy cooperates. Though this does
not mean an open endorsement of all The Art School courses and/or other
activities by neither principal artist nor his current or former students, the
Academy students are encouraged to broaden their artistic horizons by all means
and experiment as they see fit.
Tuition
is $30 per 3 hour session plus the model fee when applicable. First lesson is
free. Enrollment is open-dated and schedules are built with the maximum
flexibility to accommodate working adults. We look forward to welcome you to
our school.
